The on-line FidoNet BBS game that you loved in the 1980s is back, this time it's on the Internet and instead of sharing database files through the old FidoNet BBS network, the data which allows for multiple players around the world to play against each other and to form alliances for the mutual benefit of everyone in their alliances is driven by an SQL database.

The executable file that you download from this web site runs under Windows and communicates with the SQL database so that any number of players can enjoy the game. The text based commands which were so well-loved in the 1980s remains much the same, bringing back the nostalgia of the "Good Old Days" when text-based games were the only thing possible across the dial-up BBS networks.

The stand-alone executable file "MAYHEM.EXE" was written in C Sharp (C#) code with .NET performing much of the functionality. Originally written by Fredric L. Rice in the early 1980s, the original C code has been ported over to C# and has been reworked to scale-up to Internet capabilities where tens of thousands of players may play against each other, form alliances, break alliances, and engage in all the original fun of the classic Universal Mayhem game.
